
My featured Indie Junction artist this week is Yael from TheJoyofColor on Etsy. Her work features stunning hand crafted and painted clay objects. When did you start to craft?
From childhood I used to knit paint furnitures, draw with watercolor...
How did you hear about Etsy and when did you join?
I heard about it last year from Lirola a succssesful etsy seller. I Joined in July 2009.
What kind of market is your work geared towards?
Mainly women from all ages who love colors and designs which are a bit retro (60/70's)
yet keeps clean modern lines. Its also geared towards hostess gift and nice affordable
gift for coworker.
What types of crafts/artwork do you do?
My main craft now is the decorative painted objects (flowers/containers/fun ideas) made from cold clay. I do also knit accessories (hats, jewelry, bags..). I paint and draw but i hope to introduce my art later on.
What kinds of materials do you like to work with?
Acrylic and water colors. Canvas. cold clay, yarns and fabrics
How did you hear about Indie Junction?
From Etsy forums
What are your inspirations?
Wow almost everything, Nature, Urban life, movies, Magazines. furniture, architecture, even food when it comes to color and textures.
What is some advice you could share with other craters?
Just create what you love, in case you are a seller - learn how to market on Internet,
Explore ways to improve your craft - technique, new ideas, And try to be unique in what
you do.
